Join us, on Thursday, January 28th, for the second installment of ¡PADRES QUE PUEDEN!

English Learner Supervisor Susanne Silva, Lorain City Schools Family Office Bilingual Support Waleska Soto and Bilingual Paraprofessional Omayra Martinez will be joined by Lorain County Community College Adult Outreach Associate Lizette Torres who will discuss and answer questions regarding LCCC's programs, certificates and services offered to Lorain County's Hispanic community. 

Join us, for this partnership with LCCC, as Lorain City Schools continues its focus on creating and sustaining partnerships that establish initiatives to better serve the parents and students in our Hispanic and Latino communities.

NO STUDENTS-Grade Level Teacher Planning

There will be no school for students on Wednesday, February 3rd, as staff will be conducting grade level teacher planning.

There will be no school, for students, on Friday, February 12th as staff will be holding parent/teacher conferences. 

NO STUDENTS-Professional Development Day

There will be no school for students as Wednesday, March 3rd will be a professional development day for staff.

What's in a Name?

Toni Morrison Elementary opened in August 2007 and is named for Lorain native Chloe Wofford. She graduated from Lorain High School in January 1949 and was Treasurer of her graduating class. She has written many best selling novels and is a winner of a Pulitzer Prize and a Nobel Prize. Among her best known novels are The Bluest Eye, Song of Solomon and Beloved. She is Lorain’s only Nobel Laureate. She later changed her name to Toni Morrison. Toni Morrison Elementary School was built to hold 350 students for an investment of $8.0 million, of which nearly 80% came from the state of Ohio.
