Hawthorne Elementary School Spends Morning giving Back, Nov. 15

In the spirit of Thanksgiving, scholars and staff of Hawthorne Elementary School spent their morning giving back to each other, Nov. 15. Kindergarten teacher Melissa Post’s daughter stopped by her mom’s class to give a tap dancing lesson to scholars, as they brushed up on their Wit and Wisdom common core ELA lessons. Previous readings of Leo and Diane Dillon’s book ‘Rap A Tap Tap’ were brought to life as Ms. Post’s daughter tapped away on the linoleum floor. Coats for Kids gave winter jackets to every Hawthorne Elementary School scholar, Friday morning, as well. Building leaders and teachers handed a myriad of brightly colored coats to Ms. Post’s class, as well as to scholars in classrooms throughout the building. Those scholars then showed their appreciation for the new apparel by getting together for their weekly ‘Power Hour’ sessions with peers. Older grade level scholars gave back by visiting the classrooms of younger grade level classrooms, to assist in their reading.
