CEO’s Office Background: The Lorain City Schools has had a Lorain Academic Distress Commission (LADC) since April of 2013. The LADC is a joint school district and state panel that steps in to try to fix schools when they have been declared in academic emergency and have failed to make adequate yearly progress for four or more consecutive years.
Under House Bill 70 (HB70) which passed the state legislature in 2015, ADC’s are required to appoint a Chief Executive Officer (CEO). The CEO is granted operational, managerial and instructional control of the district. Lorain City Schools needs to raise its report card grade from an F to a C for two consecutive years to transition back to public control of its schools.
On Wednesday, December 11, 2019, the LADC appointed Greg Ring as the interim CEO of the Lorain City Schools.
