Happy Wednesday, Titans!
As we step through the month of March, we are reminded that this time of year is often a season of renewal. The days grow a little longer, the first signs of Spring begin to appear, and our schools continue to be filled with the energy, creativity, and resilience of our incredible students.
This month, we are proud to celebrate Women’s History Month, honoring the countless women who have shaped our community, our nation, and our schools. From inspiring leaders and educators to the mothers, mentors, and students who make a difference every day, we take this time to recognize the strength and contributions of women throughout history and within our own Titan family.
March also brings moments of fun and learning for our students, including St. Patrick’s Day and other seasonal activities that help bring joy and creativity into our classrooms. These celebrations remind us that school is not only about academics, it’s also about building memories, friendships, and traditions that students will carry with them for years to come.
At the same time, we know our district is navigating an incredibly challenging season. We want our families, staff, and community to know that even in difficult moments, the heart of Lorain City Schools remains strong. Our students continue to show up each day eager to learn, our staff continues to pour their hearts into supporting them, and our community continues to stand together for our schools.
In times like these, what makes the Titan community special shines through even more clearly. Thank you for your support and your belief in our students. Together, we will continue moving forward with hope, determination, and pride in our schools.
As always - once a Titan, always a Titan.
Stay Titan Strong,
Moriah A. Ballard
Director of Communications & Community Relations

Lorain City Schools Community Survey Results 2026
We have received the results of the 2026 Lorain City Schools Community Survey.
The survey was conducted by Fallon Research & Communications, Inc., a third-party research firm, between February 20 and 24. The phone-based survey included 433 participants and carries a margin of error of ±4.7%. Because the survey was conducted independently and confidentially, participants were able to share honest feedback about their experiences, priorities, and concerns.
Thank you to everyone who participated and to those who continue to engage with us in thoughtful and constructive ways. We remain committed to listening, learning, and leading with clarity and care.

Lorain City Schools Reduction Plan
Lorain City Schools is sharing its budget reduction plan as part of a required submission to the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce. This plan outlines how the district will address current financial realities while continuing to prioritize student learning and safe, supportive school environments.
Like many school districts across Ohio, Lorain City Schools is navigating funding challenges that require difficult decisions. This plan reflects weeks of careful review of enrollment trends, program utilization, contractual obligations, and long-term sustainability. The goal throughout this process has been to make responsible choices that protect students as much as possible and position the district for financial stability.
We recognize that budget decisions are never just numbers on a page. They affect people, classrooms, and the day-to-day experiences of our students and staff. These decisions were not made lightly, and we understand that this information may be difficult for members of our community to read and process.
We encourage families and community members to review the materials shared here to better understand the district’s path forward. District leaders remain available to provide clarity, answer questions, and engage in ongoing dialogue as this plan moves into implementation.
Lorain City Schools remains deeply grateful for the trust of our families and the commitment of our staff and community. Even in challenging moments, our focus remains clear: supporting our students and ensuring they have the opportunities they deserve.

🩷 Celebrating Women’s History Month 🩷
🦸♀️ 👩🎓 👩🏫 👮♀️ 👩🚀 👩🏭 👩🔬
March is Women’s History Month, a time to honor the countless contributions women have made to our nation, our communities, and our schools. From scientists and educators to artists, leaders, and innovators, women throughout history have helped shape the world we live in today.
This month, our students will have opportunities to learn about influential women, reflect on their achievements, and explore how they, too, can make a difference.
We are also proud to recognize the many women in our own school community—teachers, staff, students, and families—who demonstrate leadership, resilience, and compassion every day.
Women’s History Month is not only about looking back at history, but also about inspiring the next generation to dream big, lead with confidence, and create positive change.
We encourage families to continue these conversations at home by sharing stories of inspiring women who have made an impact in your lives.

Let’s hear it for the Southview Middle School 8th Grade Boys Basketball Team on an unforgettable season!!!
Our Titans finished the year undefeated, going a perfect 16–0 and earning the title of Greater Cleveland Area Champions. This is a remarkable accomplishment that reflects the team’s talent, discipline, and determination.
The outstanding group of student-athletes includes Antonio Kimbrough, Lovell Morris, John Payne, Blake Wagner, Josiah Solomon, Mario Jones, Jamil Rodriguez, Noah Benjamin, Joniel Centeno, Jayden McIntosh, and Josiah Echols.
But their success goes far beyond the scoreboard. As noted in a resolution from the Lorain City Council, these young men are not only champions on the court, they are leaders in the classroom. Each day, they demonstrate a strong work ethic, accountability, character, and a commitment to academic excellence that makes the entire Titan community proud.
In recognition of their incredible achievement, the Lorain City Council recently honored the team for their championship season and the pride they’ve brought to the city of Lorain.
Check out their article here!
“What makes this even more impressive is their commitment in the classroom,” said Ward 6 Councilman Angel Arroyo Jr. “This team includes three students on the Merit Roll, three on the Honor Roll, and one student who earned straight As."
"Our community is raising leaders, scholars, and champions. Congratulations to these young men for an outstanding season. You represented your school and your community with pride, both in the classroom and on the basketball court. These student-athletes represent their school and community with pride, proving that true excellence is measured not only by wins and trophies, but by leadership, integrity, and dedication within the school community,” the resolution stated.
Head coach Doug Taylor Jr., Assistant coach Aaron Frazier, Principal Takesha Jackson, and faculty manager Amanda Wilt were also recognized for leading the team both on the basketball court and in the school.
Congratulations, Titans. We’re proud of you!
