Summer Programming 2022

Lorain City Schools is offering unique camp experiences this summer. Student grade level is based on the grade they will be entering in the 2022-2023 school year.  Families can register their children until May 27th.
GRADES Preschool through Grade 8 - Camp hours are from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM
Camp Invention provides fun, open-ended Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) activities to develop your child's problem-solving power and make their creative mark on the world. FREE Field Trips/Activities on Fridays, including a healthy lifestyle/sports clinic from the Cleveland CAVS!  Summer Camp for students from preschool through 5th grade will be held at four elementary buildings - Frank Jacinto, Larkmoor, Palm, and Washington.  Summer Camp for students grades six through 8 will be held at the high school.
June 13 - June 24

GRADES 9-12: MAD Factory - Camp hours are from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM
Students will work with two theater teaching artists towards preparing a cabaret-style performance at the end of camp. Each student will be assigned a vocal solo from a musical, and all will participate in at least one group number. Students will also
participate in acting exercises and bonding/teamwork games. Camp will culminate with a showcase on the last day. LIMIT: 25 students.  The camp will be held at the high school.
June 13- June 24

GRADES 9-12: Dancing Wheels - Camp hours are from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM
Beyond Our Skin encourages students to consider and learn about the similarities and differences of human bodies beyond what is perceived by looking at a person. Through a scientific lens and by using dance and movement, visual art, language arts, and technology, students will discover components of the body such as bones, muscles, and organs; they will explore wheelchair mechanics and composition (such as angles, circumference, velocity, and wheelchair design); and will be able to share aspects of their own stories to validate their unique contributions to diversity. The camp will be held at the high school.
June 13 - June 24

GRADES 9-12: FAB Cab - Camp hours are from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM
Join us for a 2-week camp that immerses students in grades 9-12 into the world of advanced manufacturing technology and entrepreneurship. Student teams are challenged to work together to identify a real-world problem that holds value to them, then conceptualize an advanced hardware device, develop a business model and pitch it “Shark Tank” style to a panel of education and industry representatives. Lorain County Community College's FabCab will be onsite to assist campers with prototyping.  This is an excellent opportunity to meet new friends while exploring innovative technologies.
June 13 - June 24

GRADES 9-12: Credit Recovery - Camp hours are from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM
Get a head start on school this summer by participating in personalized instruction to build confidence, recover lost credits, and stay on pace to graduate on time! Students will enjoy small class sizes, make up missed classes and improve grades as they prepare for the 2022/2023 school year. The camp will be held at the high school.
