LHS UPDATE: Oct. 22, 2021

October 22, 2021

Parent Teacher Conferences | Lorain High School’s fall parent teacher conferences are set for 2:30 - 8:30 PM Thursday, October 28th. Staff members will be available for in-person conversations and Zoom! We will have a master document for all staff members on the website shortly that will have each staff member's email address and a Zoom link for conferences. If you would like to meet with your child's teacher over Zoom, please email them directly to coordinate a time that is mutually agreeable. If you would prefer to meet face-to-face, come on in! The building will be open and teachers will be available for walk-ins. If the teacher you are looking to meet with is on a Zoom, just have a seat outside the door and the staff member will be with you as soon as possible. We hope to see you Thursday!

No School on Friday, October 29th | This is a friendly reminder that there will be no school Friday, October 29th. Hopefully, the weather cooperates and you and your family will be able to enjoy a beautiful Northeast Ohio extended fall weekend!

Associate Principal Tim Jama was part of the grand finale. He is sitting in a chair, on top of a bike ramp and a BMX athlete is flipping over this head.No Hate Tour |
We hosted an anti-bullying assembly Tuesday for 11th and 12th grade students with the No Hate Tour, a group of pretty amazing BMX freestylers that promote and reinforce an anti-bullying and anti-harassment message. This event was picked up by the Morning Journal and was graciously sponsored by the United States Marine Corp!

Our very own Associate Principal Tim Jama got in on the act as the grand finale. Check out this high-flying stint.

Issue 37 - Our Kids Matter | Election Day is less than two weeks away, and our Superintendent/CEO Dr. Jeff Graham recently shared answers to some of the frequently asked questions regarding ISSUE 37, the Lorain Schools general operating levy on the ballot November 2nd. Please click this link to read more!

Great stuff happening in Lorain High School classrooms | A quick shout out to staff members Roxanna Ramirez and Lisa Babics. During last week's campus wide fire drill, each teacher carried a red/green safety sign with their room number to help account for each class and person in the building. They were a great visual tool for our Safety and Security Team during the drill.

Those much-needed safety signs were created by our MH students. Director of Safety and Security Reuben Figueroa surprised those students Friday with cupcakes to say thank you for their hard work. Teachers Lisa Babics and Roxanna Ramirez said the students were proud of what they accomplished.

Help us salute these Titans for their work in helping to keep everyone safe and organized, making for a much easier fire drill.

11th Period is Rolling | 11th Period is up and running here at Lorain High School! If you feel your son or daughter would benefit from additional academic support, please reach out to their guidance counselor to get more information! Contact information for counselors can be found right here.

Attendance | We need your student here and we need them here by 7:15 AM at the latest! One thing COVID has taught us is there is no replacement for having your children in our classrooms and under our care. If they are here at school, on time, learning is optimized! Please do everything you can to make sure your student is here on time and ready to learn. We can’t wait to see them each morning!

FinalForms = EMA’s - We need your help | FinalForms is our new way to collect all of the “parent homework” you typically get on the first day of school. We have too many of you who have yet to complete this important task! If you haven’t already, please click on this link in order to quickly get started creating a FinalForms account and complete the important (and legally required paperwork). We must have this completed! If you run into questions or concerns, you can always stop in the LHS main office and get whatever help you need.

Have a great weekend, and as always, you can reach me directly at [email protected].
