MIDDLE SCHOOL FALL SPORTS INFO

MIDDLE SCHOOL FALL SPORTS INFO

PHYSICAL EXAMS
Physical exams can be scheduled through your family doctor or at one of many local walk-in clinic options. The Mercy Health Clinic at Washington Elementary School has a walk-in clinic for students. Parents can call (440)370-5446 to schedule an appointment. All athletes MUST have a current physical on file before they can try out for a team or begin practicing as of August 1.

Arrangements must be made to have this done before the season begins. Please do not wait until the week before the season starts because this could impact the student athlete’s chances of being a part of the team. Physical exam forms can be found at lorainathletics.org or at the school. Physical exam expiration dates are listed in FinalForms.

FINAL FORMS
All electronic paperwork will need to be completed in Final Forms before athletes can start attending workouts. Students will not be able to try out for the team unless this is completed. All Lorain City Schools students have a Final Forms account. Any parent or student that has trouble completing their FinalForms update should contact the FinalForms Hotline at (440) 830-4024.

TRYOUT/PRACTICE FORMAT
All tryouts and practices are closed to the public. Exactly how the tryout is structured is based on a number of factors which includes, but are not limited to, the number of participants and overall skill level of the participants. Tryouts may last for multiple days, and the exact number of days may change throughout the process. The goal is for the coach(s) to make an informed decision.

WHAT TO WEAR/BRING
Athletes should bring bottled water or a container (squirt bottle or thermos) with water. The amount of water would depend on the sport and activity. The athlete should make sure to dress sport-appropriate for the tryout. An athlete’s gear/attire can impact how they perform. For example, a football player with cleats will run and cut better than an athlete wearing gym shoes. A volleyball player wearing knee pads will likely be more apt to dive for a ball. A basketball player wearing denim jeans may not move as well as the athlete wearing gym shorts. These are all factors that should be considered when preparing for a tryout.
