Student altercation caused Level 2 Lockdown

Student altercation caused Level 2 Lockdown

JANUARY 4 2023 | Two students were involved in an altercation in the hallway at Lorain High School on Wednesday, January 4, 2023.

As a result, Lorain High School was placed under a Level 2 Lockdown at 11:45 AM because a small knife was identified during the altercation. A Level 2 Lockdown means all students and staff were asked to remain inside their classrooms and offices with doors locked, and no one was allowed in the hallways.

This was a precautionary measure out of abundant care for students and staff.

The lockdown was lifted at 12:45 PM. Students and staff resumed the school day.

The students involved in the incident received prompt medical attention from school personnel before being transported to a local hospital. Neither student was seriously injured.

We commend our Safety and Security Team for their swift actions in responding to the situation, including promptly placing the building on lockdown as a precaution. Additional officers with the Lorain Police Department arrived at Lorain High School within minutes to assist our school resource officers.

We thank Lorain police for their continued efforts to keep our students and staff safe.

The Lorain Police Department will take over the investigation with the cooperation of district officials.

All students found to be involved will face discipline in accordance with district policy and past practices.
