FREE DR. MLK DAY EVENTS IN NORTHEAST OHIO

Lorain City Schools will be closed Monday, January 17, 2022, in observance of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Several groups and organizations in northeast Ohio will honor Dr. King with free in-person and virtual events. 
 
What: "Black Baseball Stories 2022: A Tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr."
Presented by: Community Cup Classic Foundation

When: Saturday, January 15 | 10:00-11:00 AM | FREE
Event Information: The event will pay tribute to Dr. King’s legacy. It will also include activities that spotlight the challenging, historic, and legacy of baseball's Negro Leagues and the African American experience in baseball.

What: "Hear our voices: A free MLK Day celebration"
Where: Maltz Museum of Jewish Heritage, 2929 Richmond Road, Beachwood
When: Monday, January 17 | 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM | FREE

Event information: The event will include free museum admission, virtual family activities, and a special online program featuring Dr. Khalid el-Hakim, founder of the Black History 101 Mobile Museum. Advanced registration is required. Register here.

Event Information: A free daylong celebration honoring Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The museum also debuts its free Family Discovery Pack, a wearable waist pack filled with kid-friendly tools and activities that spark creative and insightful conversations as they reveal personal connections with artworks and artists. Event information: All are invited to join together for this virtual event on the City of Elyria Facebook page and www.cityofelyria.org. Gather virtually to celebrate the life of Dr. King through a commemorative program including prayer, song, poems, and a keynote speaker.
