Student artists to show off talents at All-City Art Show

March 24, 2022 | This year, the Lorain City Schools All-City Art Show will be from 6:00-8:00 PM, Thursday, April 28, 2022, at the Transportation Building at Black River Landing.

The Art Show will feature more than 300 student artworks on display. All artwork will be for sale for the first time, with proceeds going directly to the student artists.

“It is going to be a fantastic event, and we can’t wait for everyone to see the creativity of our kids,” said Jacqueline Murdock, art teacher at Longfellow Middle School and the district’s visual arts coordinator.

In addition to a room full of unique pieces, student creativity will be displayed as soon as guests arrive. Outside as guests come into the Transportation Building, they will see more than 400 pinwheels created by student artists from all over the city, inspired by different artists and art genres.

As Lorain City Schools works to expand its fine arts offerings starting with the 2022-2023 school year, Murdock said the All-City Art Show is a perfect time to see the beauty that unfolds when talented and creative young artists have the space to create.

Murdock said it is impressive to see what students can accomplish in the arts.

“In this day and age when kids are so easily distracted with all the technology, when I see kids who can focus on creating something for an hour at a time, and that’s all they’re doing with no distractions, and they are just creating their art, it’s amazing.
