Lorain High student winners at this year's TECHCORPShack

November 15, 2023 | This past Saturday, five Lorain High School students were among 200 teens who gathered at Lorain County Community College for the fifth annual TECHCORPShack to showcase their skills and creativity in developing mobile apps to address real-world needs and problems.

The event provided a platform for innovation and collaboration among young minds.

The five participants from Lorain High were Romel Martin, a member of last year's winning team, and Keira Podlich, Jack Zhang, Ethan Garay, and Jonathan Rodriguez. The energy in the room was high as these young developers delved into their projects.

Ethan and Jonathan Rodriguez emerged triumphant, securing their places on the winning team. Both were awarded $200. Jonathan also won the social media contest, earning himself a $20 Chipotle gift card.

Jack was on the runner-up team.

Ethan and Jonathan will be honored with a special invitation to attend the Statehouse in Columbus on December 6.

TECHCORPShack continues to be a catalyst for nurturing young talent in technology and innovation. The event not only highlights the capabilities of local high school students but also serves as a stepping stone into the world of technology.
