JULY 4, 2023 | With the stroke of a pen early Tuesday morning, Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine ushered in a historic moment for the Lorain City School District and the city of Lorain.
After more than 10 years of some form of state control, the Lorain City Schools can now celebrate the return of local control as the state’s biennial budget includes a line item releasing the District from state oversight.
CEO and Superintendent Dr. Jeffrey Graham celebrates this long-fought victory with every teacher, staff member, family, and the entire Lorain City Schools community.
Lorain City Schools is following a comprehensive plan to improve local education, and that plan is working.
The return to local control will become official in 90 days as part of the state’s overall budget.
