November 30, 2020 | School Food Pantry Volunteers Needed

Titan Family,

As 2020 rapidly comes to a close, Lorain City Schools heads in to December with two collaborative Mobile Drive-Thru School Pantries, with Second Harvest Food Bank, remaining on the calendar.

It is no secret that December is a very crucial time of the year as we all look to provide nourishment, to our families, during the holidays.

It is also no secret, and should be recognized, that we would not be able to do this work without the help of you all.

For most of the year, and throughout this most challenging time that many of us have ever faced, we have been blessed with the assistance of our National Guard, during this COVID-19 pandemic. Due to circumstances beyond anyone's control, many guardsmen and guardswomen will be leaving their assignment with Second Harvest.

Because of that, we are asking you all for help.

Below, you will find volunteer links for both the Dec. 3 pantry at Longfellow Middle School, and the Dec. 29 pantry at General Johnnie Wilson Middle School. If you, or someone within your organization is willing and able to assist as a volunteer, Lorain City Schools would be deeply grateful for your time.

Please note that it is requested that volunteers be 18 years of age, or older, and prepared to stay the entire time (3.5 hours generally). Hours of operation, for the pantries, are from 4-6 p.m. with time spent setting up and tearing down, before and after the pantry.

We thank you all, in advance, and appreciate everything you do for your fellow families and community.

If you have questions regarding the upcoming school food pantries, or volunteering, please reach out to Second Harvest Food Bank of North Central Ohio Director of Program & Partner Services Samantha Flores at 440-444-0695 or via email at [email protected] or Lorain City Schools Executive Director of Family Engagement Jeff Keruski at [email protected].
