Washington Elementary Kicks Off 'Washington Walks on Wednesdays"

Washington Elementary School students, staff and family kicked off their new way to stay connected during these days of social distancing, with a brisk, 1.3 mile walk around the neighborhood, Wednesday afternoon. "Washington Walks on Wednesdays" is a new opportunity for the school to connect with its school community in a safe, outdoor, socially distanced setting, Principal Culliton said. Each week, an open invite will be sent out--via Class DoJo--and will include one of four designed routes through the neighborhood. This way, walkers and residents will have an opportunity to say 'hi' in a setting outside of the familiar Zoom meeting that we've come accustomed to, district-wide. This week's inaugural walk took participants along Washington Avenue; west on 22nd Street; and past George Daniel Field as they made their way along Oberlin Avenue, before rounding Highland Park Boulevard, past their future home of GJW Middle School, and then back to their home base of Washington Elementary. If you would like to participate in future walks, be sure to check your Class DoJo, next week, and stay connected with the school, on their Facebook page, for updates.
