On Monday afternoon, Governor Mike Dewine signed a collection of six house and senate bills into law. Included in those bills was House Bill 325. With his signature, Dewine designated the February 18th birthday of the city's most highly decorated author as Toni Morrison Day, across the state of Ohio. Speaking during this historic signing were bill sponsors Stephanie Howse, of the 11th district; Ohio House District 56 Representative Joe Miller; Lorain Public Library System CEO & Director Anastasia Diamond-Ortiz and librarian Cheri Campbell-whose duties include managing local archives for the Nobel Prize-winning author and Lorain, Ohio native.
