Garfield February Family Newsletter

FROM THE DESK OF PRINCIPAL JOHN MONTELEONE

Wind, rain, snow, sleet, and sun…. it is true what they say about Ohio’s weather: blink, and it will change.

I hope you have stayed safe and warm during these winter weeks in Northeast Ohio.  Thank you for your continued support in transitioning back to school from the holidays and helping your students adjust to their return to school. Our school staff is very thankful for your patience during this time and for encouraging your child to do their best.

As we proceed into the third grading period, know that as a school, we are working hard to prepare your student for the next grade level and planning for instructional recovery if our students need additional interventions.  Our students must be consistently here at school, ready to learn and consistently practicing their skills through the assigned homework.  Together, home and school can make an effective team working toward our children's emotional and academic success.  In closing, I thank you for all you do to support the Garfield staff.

As always, please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or need assistance.  You can reach me at the school office or by email at [email protected]

GARFIELD PARENT/GUARDIAN CONFERENCES

The teaching staff at Garfield Elementary is looking forward to an evening to “showcase” our students’ gifts and talents. This spring’s Parent/Guardian Conferences will be a two-night student “showcase” held to increase your understanding of your child’s progress and discuss their beautiful gifts and talents.

To make attending more convenient, we will have your child’s teacher or grade-level representative available on two separate “showcase” nights — Monday, February 13, from 2:30 – 6:30 P.M. and Tuesday, February 14, from 2:30 – 4:30 P.M. — at Garfield Elementary.

These “showcase” meetings are an important opportunity to sit down and discuss your child’s progress in school.

WORLD READ-ALOUD DAY
the Lorain High School Boys’ Basketball Team, who visited our kindergarten students earlier this month to celebrate World Read Aloud Day by reading and spending the afternoon with them.
This month, we are giving a big shout-out to the Lorain High School Boys’ Basketball Team, who visited our kindergarten students earlier this month to celebrate World Read Aloud Day by reading and spending the afternoon with them. It was a fantastic day for our kindergarteners and student-athletes alike.
