“WELCOME HOME”,  AUGUST, 2020

Hello GJW Parents and Students,

Welcome to the 2020-2021 school year. My name is Nikole Davis and I will be serving as the new principal of General Johnnie Wilson. I am originally from Cleveland, but I have made Lorain my home. My most recent role was as a Dean of Scholars and Credit Recovery Summer School Principal. My goal is to always go out of my way to assist and support! I am so excited about this opportunity to work with staff, students, parents and the community to make General Johnnie Wilson the best school in the district.

As we enter these new times in the world and in education, I want to ensure you that we are taking all precautions to ensure that all students, staff, and community members are safe during this time. As indicated by our CEO Dr. Graham, GJW will have online instruction for the start of the 2020-2021 school year. It is our goal to provide your students with comprehension instruction that provides clear instruction of Ohio State Academic Standards, intensive small group and individual support and strong social and emotional learning. We prioritize the wellness of our staff and students here at GJW.

As we prepare for the upcoming school year, I would like to provide you with a calendar of the upcoming events for General Johnnie Wilson. This newsletter will serve as information about resources and events that occur at GJW.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at (440) 830-4240.

Our goal of the Drive-Through parent/student orientations is to welcome our students and family back to school and provide them with the opportunities to complete paperwork, change addresses, pick-up laptops, enjoy a small meal and explore community resources in a Covid Safe environment. Groups will be schedule in 30-minute increments to minimalize the contact and large groups. The orientation schedule will be posted on the General Johnnie Wilson Website and Facebook Page. In order to keep all safe, we ask that you attend the orientation on your assigned day and time.

Our theme this year is “Welcome Home.” My vision is that every student, staff member and community member feels that GJW is home and a great place to learn and grow!  I would like to personally say “welcome home” and I look forward to an amazing journey here at General Johnnie Wilson!

Sincerely,
Nikole L. Davis, Principal GJW
