Lorain City Schools Update: A Message from CEO Greg Ring

Titan Shield

Since Governor Mike DeWine's March 12th order to close all Ohio schools the Lorain City School District has been focused on meeting the immediate needs of our students. We want to thank our staff, families and community members who have stepped up to ensure our students are fed, that community resources are shared, our buildings are properly cleaned, and that essential services continue. You've been amazing.

Now that we have some confidence the immediate needs of our students are being met, we are moving on to enhance our service delivery. In the days to come we will be sharing information about @Home Learning opportunities, designed to keep your students' skills fresh during this extended closure.

At the same time, we know you have a lot of questions about today's order by the Governor to stay at home, and how the COVID-19 crisis will affect the education of our students. This information and more will be shared out soon through the District website, social media channels, email, and all the ways you stay connected to your schools.

Until then, I encourage you to take this time to enjoy the simple pleasures with your child: read a good book, create a home-cooked meal together, take a hike in our beautiful parks. And please let your children know that their teachers and principals and all of us in the Lorain City Schools are thinking of them. We miss them each and every day, and look forward to being together soon.
