Mark Anthony Ballard II is a lifelong Lorain resident and community leader committed to strengthening families through food access, youth mentorship, and neighborhood-based solutions. His work focuses on ensuring local families have reliable access to fresh, healthy food while building long-term community resilience.
He is the founder of Urban Awakening, an organization that creates community gardens and teaches residents how to grow their own food. Through this work, Mark empowers neighborhoods to take an active role in their health and well-being.
A longtime mentor with the Lorain County Urban League, Mark has supported youth development efforts since 2012, helping connect young people to leadership opportunities and local resources. He previously served as the mayor’s liaison for the City of Elyria, working closely with residents, businesses, and community partners.
Mark holds degrees from Lorain County Community College, Morehouse College, and Mississippi College School of Law. Above all, he remains deeply committed to serving Lorain and creating opportunities for families to thrive.
