Lorain City Schools Secures Grant from Department of Children and Youth to Fund Kindergarten Readiness Summer Camp

4/15/2026 - Lorain City Schools is excited to announce that we have been awarded a $339,000 state-funded grant to operate a kindergarten-readiness summer program for incoming kindergarten students in the 2026-2027 school year. This funding opportunity will bring critical early learning skills to families at no cost to the district’s general operating budget.

This grant represents an important investment in students that does not rely on local school funding or taxpayer dollars tied to daily operations.

Awarded to LCS on March 27, 2026, through the Ohio Department of Children and Youth, the grant will fully and exclusively fund the district’s summer kindergarten readiness program, including staffing, transportation, instructional materials, and student support services.
