LCS Food Service Program Changes
LORAIN — Effective January 1, 2026, our second meal service has transitioned to entree-only options. This means that full meals will not be available for second servings.
If a student requests an additional meal, they will be allowed to have a second entree. Anything else, such as side dishes, beverages, and other meal components, won't be included in their second serving.
Unfortunately, we do not receive reimbursement for second meal options, and we no longer have the funds to continue this operation. Our goal is to better distribute the current standing of funds and resources while continuing to ensure that students have access to nutritious food options throughout the school day.
We acknowledge that this may be an abrupt change for families, and we are mindful of the impact it may have as we move forward together.
Additionally, we have approved funds that will be reimbursed to continue our Dinner Program at Lorain High School and expand it to Southview Middle School.
We will be offering free meals at Southview on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., to anyone in our community ages 18 and younger.
Free meals will also continue to be served at Lorain High School, Monday through Friday, from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to the Director of Operations for Lorain City School District, Tony Dimacchia.
