Throughout her career, Dewey has served in a variety of impactful educational roles, including Elementary Principal at Mapleton Local Schools, Assistant Principal and Title 1 Teacher for Black River Local Schools, Title 1 Reading Teacher for Highland Local Schools, and Elementary School Teacher for Carroll County Public Schools in Maryland.

An expert in evidence-based educational practices, Dewey brings extensive knowledge in the Science of Reading, Executive Functioning, and Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) compliance. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Ferris State University and a Master’s Degree in Reading from Edinboro University. She is currently completing her Education Specialist (Ed.S.) degree in Leadership through American College of Education, with graduation anticipated this December.

“Lorain is a vibrant and welcoming community, driven by dedicated families, inspiring students, and an exceptional staff,” said Dewey. “I am excited and deeply honored to be selected to lead this work and develop an additional legacy for Lorain City Schools.”

Dewey resides in Medina, Ohio, with her husband of 24 years, David, and their two children, Alexander and Braydon.
