IMPORTANT UPDATE: CLASS OF 2026 GRADUATION

As we prepare for Commencement, we want to share an important update.

In coordination with the City of Lorain and Lorain City Schools, the decision has been made to adjust the date of this year’s graduation ceremony.

In the spirit of transparency, we want to share that this change followed thoughtful and thorough consideration, with a clear focus on ensuring the highest level of safety and support for the event.

By aligning our resources from both the City and the District, we can ensure a robust presence at George Daniel Field to support the success of this event while allowing officers to maintain their responsibility to serve and protect residents throughout all of Lorain.

“The Lorain Police Department remains committed to the safety of our students and families, and this decision was made after thorough consideration of the resources required to provide the highest level of support for the event. Moving the event to this specific date and time allows our department to optimize our staffing levels across the city,” a statement from LPD reads.

The updated details are as follows:

NEW Graduation Date: Saturday, May 23, 2026

Time: 10:00 a.m.

Location: George Daniel Field (2601 Oberlin Ave., Lorain, OH)

Rain Date: Sunday, May 24, 2026

We understand this change comes later than anyone would prefer and may impact plans that families have already made. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your flexibility as we work to prioritize a well-supported celebration for our graduates.

Please note that tickets will not be available for purchase at the stadium on the day of the event.

We want to celebrate our incredible Senior Class during this milestone moment. The Class of 2026 has truly left a meaningful mark on Lorain City Schools, and we are all very proud of what you have accomplished. Graduation is a time to honor that journey, and we are committed to making it a joyful experience for every student and family.

This moment belongs to our students. With your partnership, we can ensure it remains focused on celebrating their achievement in a safe, respectful, and memorable way.
