Support the Lorain City Schools Endowment Fund during Connect to a Cause on September 17

Every student deserves the opportunity to explore, discover, and experience learning beyond the classroom. At Lorain City Schools, the Lorain City Schools Endowment Fund helps make those opportunities possible by providing supplemental funding for educational experiences, resources, and programs beyond what is available through the regular school budget.

On Thursday, September 17, 2026, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Lorain County will come together for Connect to a Cause, a community-wide day of giving created by the Community Foundation of Lorain County.

This special, virtual event provides an opportunity for families, staff, alumni, local businesses, and community members to support causes that matter to them — including the Lorain City Schools Endowment Fund.

A donation to the Endowment can become much more than a dollar amount. It can help create meaningful experiences that inspire students, strengthen learning, and open doors to new possibilities.

Through Endowment-supported grants, Lorain students can benefit from opportunities such as:

• Fine Arts & Performing Arts: Professional performances, music and dance programs, theater experiences, master classes and musical equipment.

• Educational Field Trips & Experiences: Visits to museums, science centers, zoos and other educational and cultural destinations.

• Hands-On STEM & Science: STEM kits, 3D printing, chemistry lab equipment, fossil exploration and hands-on learning.

• Literacy & Education: Classroom novels, digital reading resources, science publications and school-wide literacy initiatives.

• Career & Workforce Readiness: Career and college field trips, vocational tools, digital storytelling equipment and opportunities to develop real-world skills.

• Student Leadership & Engagement: Leadership programs, student ambassadors and activities that build confidence, teamwork and responsibility.

• Inclusive Learning: Sensory materials, adaptive classroom environments, communication tools and resources that support accessible learning experiences.

These grants demonstrate that the Endowment is about more than purchasing supplies. It is about creating opportunities and experiences that students may not otherwise have access to.

A Proven Impact on Lorain Students

The Endowment's impact can be seen throughout the district.

Last year, the Endowment Committee awarded 57 grants through the Enhancing Education and Fine Arts funds. These grants provided students with a wide variety of educational experiences, resources, and opportunities.

From exploring science and the arts to developing career-ready skills, these experiences help bring learning to life and create lasting memories for students.

Supporting Our Dedicated Staff

The Endowment also recognizes the important role our staff members play in creating meaningful learning experiences for students.

Teachers, administrators and school staff know our students and classrooms best. Their insight helps identify where additional resources, experiences and opportunities can make the greatest impact.

The Endowment includes a Staff Retention & Recognition Fund, which supports efforts to recognize and retain the dedicated staff members who make a difference in the lives of our students.

By supporting the Endowment, our community helps invest in both the students we serve and the educators who guide them.

How You Can Make a Difference
