Transportation

Lorain City Schools provides busing services, overseen by dedicated professionals who prioritize the safety and security of our students as they travel to and from their destinations. We strive to provide safe, efficient transportation for eligible students attending school or participating in school-related activities.

ELIGIBILITY

Lorain City Schools strives to be efficient and respectful with taxpayer dollars by providing busing services to students in grades K-12 who reside more than 2.0 miles from school and/or have special needs identified through an Individualized Education Plan (IEP).

EXCEPTIONS

Families who reside within 2 miles of their child's home school may submit a request to the Lorain City Schools Board of Education for transportation where space is available along an existing bus route.

SAFETY ABOVE ALL ELSE

Lorain City Schools believes that by working with our families, we can educate students about safe practices and procedures to help ensure safe transportation to and from school. Families are also asked to review bus stop safety tips with their students. Want more information? The State of Ohio provides detailed Rules and Regulations for school transportation.

NEW BUS TRACKING APP AVAILABLE TO PARENTS

How to access the app:

Visit: https://myridek12.tylerapp.com/

Lorain City Schools has officially launched a new bus-tracking app that allows parents and guardians to view their child's bus information and track it in real time. This new system will help families stay informed, especially on days when transportation may be delayed due to weather, traffic, or other factors.

We're excited to share this new tool, designed to improve communication and support our families throughout the school day.

What parents should know:

• Families can now access real-time bus information at their fingertips
• Parents can begin using the app right now to get familiar with it
• Starting with the '26–'27 school year, families will no longer receive letters in the mail regarding busing
• This app will be the primary way to access transportation information moving forward

What you'll need to get started:
• Your child's Student ID number
• If you don't know your student's ID, please contact your child's school
