Why is prom free this year?
The Lorain City Schools believes in going above and beyond to support our students and families, especially during times of great challenge and change. As a demonstration of this philosophy, the Lorain City Schools Board of Education has committed funding to ensure all seniors can attend Prom this year, free of charge.
Board President Mark Ballard shared, "The final year of high school is supposed to be the time of your life. But this year, the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic meant our students and families struggled immensely -- emotionally, physically, and financially. We can't give back those sacred moments of our students' final year within our school district, but we'll do all we can to ensure every senior is able to attend Prom. We want them to know this kind of support is what their hometown is all about, and that there's an entire community of adults behind them, believing in their dreams, and cheering them on every step of the way."
Can I bring my girlfriend/boyfriend from another school district?
No. There will be no outside guests permitted at Prom this year due to the spacing limitations within Ohio's COVID-19 guidelines. Prom is reserved for Lorain High School seniors only.
How will dinner be served?
A fabulous dinner by Fligner's will be served buffet-style, following all COVID-19 regulations. Students can relax and let themselves be served!
What about the COVID Vaccine?
As an added layer of safety, students may choose to get a COVID Vaccine. While vaccination is recommended, it is NOT MANDATORY to attend Prom. Similarly, a Vaccination Exemption Form is no longer needed by non-vaccinated students.
Where can I get the Vaccine?
Do we need to wear masks?
Will there be dancing?
