MELISSA CHEERS | PRINCIPAL
Melissa Cheers has dedicated more than 20 years of her career to education and instructional leadership, serving most recently as principal of the Success Academy at Lorain High. While there, she helped raise the graduation rate, served on several committees advancing the "We Believe" strategic plan, facilitated staff professional development, implemented Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS), and developed new community partnerships to benefit students and families.
Mrs. Cheers earned a Master of Education degree in Educational Administration and Supervision from Bowling Green State University, a Bachelor of Psychology degree with a minor in Pan-African Studies from Kent State University, and her teaching license through Ashland University. Her administrative experience includes Lorain High, Southview Middle, and the Ohio Central School System, with teaching experience at Clearview High School, Ohio Business College, and the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction.
Mrs. Cheers lives in Lorain with her husband and daughters and loves spending time with them, traveling, and reading. Cheers is also a wellness advocate and enjoys sharing her love of healthy foods, mindfulness, and working out with friends and family.
