The mission of the Lorain City Schools Preschool – Early Childhood Education program is to provide exemplary educational opportunities for children ages 3 and 4 years of age. These opportunities are based on a developmentally appropriate curriculum and supplemental services for both special needs and typically–developing children.
The Lorain City School District is proud to offer Preschool programs in all 10 of our elementary schools that have earned a 5-star rating through Ohio's "Step Up to Quality" system
. This is the highest rating preschools can receive!
The district has preschool (pre-K) classrooms located all 10 elementary buildings. All sites are licensed by and follow policies of the Ohio Department of Education Office of Early Learning and School Readiness. These classes provide early childhood education to typically developing children and those with identified special needs and learning delays. Our wonderful teachers respond to the unique learning needs and interests of the children in their class while providing a loving and engaging learning environment to our youngest Titan scholars.
A learning through play model is embraced and students are encouraged to learn from their experiences. Teachers plan intentional and purposeful activities and experiences that meet the needs, interests and abilities of children. Preschool staff conducts assessments to evaluate and improve the learning experience and provide learning progress updates to families.
