Graduation Pathways

The Titan Battalion Army Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps Pathway to Graduation:

Arguably, JROTC is one of the most successful and significantly impactful youth-oriented programs in American history. We have identified five Quality Indicators used to measure the effectiveness of the program in high schools. These five Quality Indicators are attendance, graduation, indiscipline, drop-out rate, and GPA. JROTC exceeds schools’ averages in each of these categories. Most importantly, 94% of all JROTC Cadets graduate.

The JROTC curriculum meets the following  graduation requirements:

The Leadership, Education, and Training (LET) curriculum meets the Physical Education waiver outlined in the Physical Education Department's Course Description. Cadets must complete LET 1A/B qualify for the Physical Education Waiver.

The Leadership, Education, and Training (LET) curriculum combines with NEFE's High School Financial Planning Program® (HSFPP) to meet the instruction in economics and financial literacy requirements as approved by the Lorain City School Board. Cadets must complete LET 4A/B to qualify for the economics and financial literacy graduation requirement.

Demonstrating Readiness:

In addition to fulfilling curriculum requirements and earning the competency requirements, students also must show they are prepared for college or careers.

Ohio law created 12 seals for students to demonstrate academic, technical and professional readiness for careers, college, the military or self-sustaining professions. Each seal allows students to demonstrate knowledge and skills essential for future success.

Students will demonstrate readiness by earning at least two diploma seals, one of which must be state defined. Seals help students develop an array of critical skills that are valuable to them as they transition to the next steps after high school.

Diploma Seals:

Cadets to show readiness by choosing Diploma Seals that align with their goals and interests. These seals give you the chance to demonstrate academic, technical, and professional skills and knowledge that align with your passions, interests, and planned next steps after high school. At least one of the two must be Ohio-designed. All Cadets have the  opportunity to earn the following Diploma Seals.

Military Enlistment Diploma Seal

Upon completion of LET 1A and LET 1B Cadets earn the Military Enlistment Diploma Seal through participation in a JROTC program. Students participating in a JROTC program at least two school years (or the equivalent) will satisfy the requirements to earn the Military Enlistment Seal. Ohio Revised Code section 3313.6114(C) (3).

Community Service Diploma Seal

Upon completion of LET 3 A/B and LET 4 A/B Cadets have the opportunity to earn Locally Defined Diploma Seals. Cadets may earn the Community Service Diploma Seal by completing a service-learning project that meets the guidelines set by the Lorain City School Board of Education as defined in ORC 3313.6114(C)(8)-(10), ORC 3313.6114(D).

Student Engagement Diploma Seal
