Course Offerings

LET 1A: The Emerging Leader

1 Credit 

Grade 9, 10, 11, 12

Fall Semester 

The Emerging Leader provides students a pathway for success with the opportunity to develop skills and help young people become better citizens. To this purpose, the curriculum discusses citizenship, leadership, goal setting, and several other principles designed to help the student succeed in high school and beyond. Students receive an introduction to skills-based Fitness and Wellness. Several components are contributing to a person's overall health. By maintaining a proper balance of physical activity, diet choices, sleep, and stress control, people enjoy healthier lives. Students will apply content learned to envision a 5-year action plan and develop a Personal Mission Statement that identifies the essential skills needed in high school and in post-secondary education to reach their personal goals. Students are not required to wear the Cadet Army Service Uniform (ASU) per CCR 145-2, Ch. 11. 


Prerequisite: Completion of 8th Grade. 


LET 1B: The Emerging Leader Applied: Cadet Basic Skills

1 Credit 

Grades 9, 10, 11, 12

Spring Semester 

This course is designed for Cadets as a skills-based introduction to the initial stages of Cadets training to include the Army Service Uniform (ASU) wear and appearance as a Cadet.Additionally, Cadets develop an understanding of the application of Army-wide methods of instructing and teaching techniques. Cadets will also complete studies in Squad Level Operations and Leadership Development, Fitness and Wellness, Cadet Challenge, First Aid, Drill and Ceremonies, the Manual of Arms, and Map Reading, Land Navigation, Geography, and Military History.  

Cadets are required to wear the ASU per CCR 145-2, Ch. 11

LET 2A: The Developing Leader                                

1 Credit 

Grades 10, 11, 12                                         

Fall Semester 

The second year of Leadership Education and Training introduces several skills-based units: Fitness and Wellness, First Aid, Cadet Challenge, Techniques of Communication, Leadership Development, Leadership Lab, Map Reading, Your American Citizenship, Career Opportunities, Military History, and Role of the U.S. Army. Cadets refine the methods of instructing drill, teaching techniques, individual and unit drill, manual of arms, and various other aspects of basic drill instruction and physical fitness. Cadets will also complete advanced.

LET 2B: The Developing Leader: Cadet Advanced Skills

Grades 10, 11, 12 

Spring Semester

This course provides an in-depth skills-based opportunity for the understanding and application of Army-wide uniformity in the conduct of training. Cadets develop a sense in the application of Army-wide methods of instructing and teaching techniques. Cadets will also begin advanced studies in Fitness and Wellness, Cadet Challenge, First Aid, Platoon Level Operations and Leadership Development, Drill and Ceremonies, the Manual of Arms, Map Reading, Land Navigation, Geography, and Military History.


Prerequisite: LET 2A: The Developing Leader




LET 3A: The Supervising Leader

1 Credit 

Grades 11, 12

Fall Semester 

The third year of Leadership Education and Training provides additional leadership scenarios. Students will apply content learned through the Pathways for Success course to revisit their 5-year action plan. Cadets will refine and restate their Personal Mission Statements. This process identifies the critical skills needed in high school and post-secondary education to reach their personal goals that may have changed since Pathways for Success in year one. In this year, students will be more involved as teachers and leaders within the Cadet Battalion. They will also complete advanced studies in Company Level Operations and Leadership Development, Geography, Cultural Studies, U.S. Government, Military History, Career Exploration, and   Technology Awareness.

LET 3B: The Supervising Leader Applied: Academic Odyssey 

1 Credit 

Grades 11, 12                                                        

Spring Semester 

The Academic Odyssey goal is to encourage high-achieving Cadets to showcase and build academic success by expanding their knowledge. Cadets at this level can acquire battalion staff positions and responsibilities and help integrate improvements in the local JROTC program and community. The JROTC Instructors will support Cadets to achieve their personal and professional goals. Cadets receive the opportunities to visit colleges, explore careers, and explore local and national cultures through competitions. Ensuring that the Cadets develop the character skills needed to succeed in the 21st-century workforce as university-ready, career-ready, or military-ready. Additionally, preparing Cadets for college entrance exams, such as the SAT and ACT or Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB). There are several resources available, free-of-charge to all Cadets. March2Success provides an online study program to help students prepare for standardized tests, improve school work, and review materials.

LET 4A: The Managing Leader                                        

1 Credit 

Grades 12                                                                      

Fall Semester 

The fourth-year Cadets are responsible for the daily Cadet Battalion operation and administration and services in commanders and staff officers' roles. They act as assistant instructors in some subject areas for other leadership classes. They continue to develop their leadership skills and plan special unit events such as the annual Military Ball and Awards Banquet and several Leadership Training Events. Additionally, the Cadets receive practical hands-on experience through NEFE’s High School Financial Planning Program® (HSFPP). This is a turnkey financial literacy program specifically focused on basic personal finance skills that are relevant to the lives of teens. They will also complete advanced studies in Battalion Level Operations and Leadership Development, Geography, Cultural Studies, U.S. Government, Military History, Career Exploration, and Technology Awareness.

LET 4B: The Managing Leader Applied: Exploring Leadership

1 Credit 

Grades 12

Spring Semester 

This course affords Cadets with the desire for an opportunity to study historical events on the ground that shaped our Nation. This course offers exciting discussions and capstone projects. By the end of the semester, you will have a solid foundation of understanding regarding the origins of a battle or campaign fought on American soil. Historical events selected may include The Battle of Gettysburg, Gettysburg, PA, and The Continental Army Camp at Valley Forge, PA.
