The Lorain City Schools Engagement Center wraps students in a "System of Care" that integrates a variety of supports depending on need and individual circumstances. Our process includes the creation of a Care Team comprised of the child, family, formal and informal service providers, peer support providers and others to develop individual care plans for children that may include:
- Mental Health promotion interventions, consultations, screenings, access to therapists and counseling, and intensive in-home mental health treatment.
- Health Care School Nurses in all of our buildings and, coming soon, Mobile Health Response Centers
- Crisis Response services
- Trauma-Specific Treatments with a Counselor or Licensed Social Worker
- Legal Services for families
- Behavior Management skills training
- Substance Abuse screenings and treatment
- Parenting Groups and Family Navigation
- Home Visiting
- Social and Child Welfare Services
- Youth and Family Education
The Lorain City Schools Engagement Center is here to help families with the challenges they face in the following ways:
- Working together to find solutions to student and family needs;
- Connecting you to the appropriate resources and staff to provide support, answer questions and handle concerns;
- Provide information about policies, procedures and processes;
- Find the appropriate staff member to support specific needs;
- Help completing the various forms you may need to submit for support
Information the Engagement Team will need:
- We must talk to the guardian to make any changes to student information
- Only guardians can discuss individual students
- Student's name, date of birth, grade and school, and possibly other identifying information
