Expanded Busing

Lorain City Schools provides transportation services to all students who live more than 2.0 miles from school, regardless of grade.

When students return to Lorain City Schools in August, hundreds will be eligible for free, reliable bus transportation from the district's Transportation Department. Lorain City Schools strives to be efficient and respectful with taxpayer dollars by providing busing services to students in grades K-12 who reside beyond 2.0 miles from school and/or who have special needs identified through an Individualized Education Plan (IEP).

We have established 17 bus stops around the city that will be used for morning and afternoon pick-up and drop-off for our high school students. This will allow high school students who live two or more miles away from Lorain High to catch a bus close to home on a consistent schedule that will get students to school on time every day.

We want to alleviate some of the stress of transportation for our families, and we hope this helps.

To see a complete list of bus stops and request transportation for your high school student, visit lorainschools.org/transportation. Families must complete the request form and return it to the district's Transportation Department.

UPDATE*
Transportation letters to eligible families will be mailed after Friday, August 18We will open our space available opportunities for students who live less than two miles from their home school in October, with a decision to be made by the district's Transportation Department, where space is available along an existing bus route.

All incoming 9th graders who live more than two miles from Lorain High School must complete the transportation request form available at www.lorainschools.org/RequestTransportation
