Washington Elementary School
Named after our first president, Washington Elementary opened in April 2005, replacing the previous Washington Elementary building that faced Washington Avenue. That building opened in 1954 to accommodate Lorain’s ever increasing population due to the post WWII “Baby Boom.” It is designed to hold 450 students for an investment of $7.9 million, of which nearly 80% came from the state of Ohio.
