Bobcats Battle But Beat By Braves

The Cambridge High School boys’ basketball team was outscored by seven points in the fourth quarter and lost 56-50 to Indian Valley in action Tuesday night in the Gene Ford Gymnasium at Cambridge High School.

The Bobcats played the Braves to a seven-seven first quarter tie before opening up a 20-15 lead late in the second quarter.  Jesiah Barnett, Braydn Gregg and Rylee Homko-Green each scored a three-point goal in the quarter with Homko-Green leading the charge with five points.
The lead, however, didn’t even last until the half as Indian Valley rallied late to take a 21-20 lead to the locker room for the break.

The Bobcats outscored the Braves 16-14 in the third quarter to take a one-point lead at 36-35 heading into the final frame. Barnett scored 12 points in the quarter, hitting several mid-range jumpers. Rylan Mathews added a pair of layups to round out the scoring.

The Braves were able to regain the lead and pull away for the win outscoring Cambridge 21-14 in the fourth quarter. Cambridge was behind by nine but rallied to cut the final score to six. Barnett again led the Bobcats with five points in the quarter.

In the game, Barnett scored 22 points. Gregg added nine points, Mathews six and Homko-Green five.
The Bobcats fell to 0-2 for the season and play again at Buckeye Trail on Saturday night.

In junior varsity action, Indian Valley beat Cambridge 54-45. Nine different players scored for the Bobcats with Camdyn Lauer and Austin Jenkins scoring seven points each.
