Dr. Richard Husband to receive the Troy Distinguished Alumni Award

The Troy Area School District Foundation Board has announced that Dr. Richard Husband will be this year’s inductee into the Foundation Hall of Distinguished Alumni.

Husband, a 1973 Troy graduate and 1982 graduate from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, will receive the honor during a student assembly at 10:00 a.m. November 20th in the high school’s Memorial Auditorium. Alumni and the general public are invited to the event. A reception in the lobby will follow the program.

According to biographical information provided by the foundation, Dr. Husband is married to Cindy Young Husband, also a Troy High School graduate. They have 3 children: Christopher, Chelsea and Emily. After graduating from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, he completed an Internship and Family Medicine Residency at Community General Hospital in Harrisburg, Pa. In 1984, Husband completed his Board Certification in Family Medicine and returned to practice in Troy and Canton. He has served as Vice President of the Troy Hospital Medical Staff, Medical Director of Primary Care for Arnot Health, and on the Arnot Health Physician and Advisory Board. Most recently, he served as Chief Medical Officer of North Penn Comprehensive Health Services/Laurel Health. During his nearly 40 years of medical practice, Dr. Husband has enjoyed teaching medical students and family practice residents in his office and given multiple lectures at physician meetings and seminars. He also taught a Medical Ethics course to college students. Dr. Husband considers it a privilege to have served as a doctor for families in the Troy Area.
