Commencement is only the beginning for the GEAR UP cohort in Lorain

Lorain City Schools is partnering with GEAR UP, a federally funded grant program, to bring exciting opportunities to the Class of 2011. The district received a GEAR UP grant, for the next six years, which will follow this year’s seventh grade class through graduation and on to college. The stated goal of this grant is to “raise overall academic performance of incoming 7^th graders and increase their likelihood of enrolling in college.”

 

The GEAR UP Office serves the approximately 760 7th grade students at General Johnnie Wilson, Longfellow and Whittier Middle Schools.
