Whittier teachers are experienced educators committed to unlocking the potential of every child. Through “Adventures in Art” collaboration between classroom teachers and fine arts specialists will provide an imaginative, enlivening and safe environment for your child. As a result, your child will benefit from cutting-edge technology that will encourage creative thinking while instilling a life-long love of learning.

Classroom Experiences

  • Students will create movies, web pages, music, podcasts and artwork
  • Academic coursework that integrates the arts into the core curriculum
  • Performance and exhibitions by the students to showcase their talent
  • Interaction with professional artists, musicians, singers, dancers, and actors
  • Field trips to museums, performances, and artists’ studios
  • Assemblies with a global approach to relevant real world applications

Participation in the Whittier Magnet will prepare our students for potential career opportunities in our rapidly changing technological society by encouraging the following skills:

Student Requirements

  • Grades 6 – 8
  • Students residing within the attendance boundaries of Whittier Middle School are given first priority over students within the Lorain City Schools district
  • Students enrolled in Lorain City Schools are given priority over students from other school districts

Staffing

Classroom teachers are assisted by additional specialists in music, dance, drama, and visual arts
