Irving Accelerated Academy is a new accelerated learning program that challenges students to reach their greatest potential.
A product of Lorain City Schools, the Accelerated Academy is a select program which utilizes the best personnel, teaching tools, techniques and resources from throughout the district.
Its goal is to empower its students to be highly sucessful, productive and valuable leaders of our community and beyond.

Student Requirements
- Grades K – 6
- Students enrolled in Lorain City Schools are given
priority over students from other districts
- Students qualify to enter program based on
teacher recommendation, scores from the OAT
and testing results from a nationally normed test
- Students qualified for gifted self-contained classes
must have gifted identification in two areas
Teacher Requirements
- Minimum 3 years teaching experience
- Masters Degree
- Ongoing Professional Development
- State funded gifted unit teachers must have Gifted
Intervention Specialist Endorsement
- Provide written education plans for identified gifted
students
