School Hours: 8:00 am - 2:15 pm

Students complete 17 modules as they move from Kindergaten to 5th grade.
They develop ideas and inquiry skills as they study one topic and a small number of key concepts as they work through investigations over a 6-8 week period. As they work through the modules, they cover topics and areas that engage and interest them. Students will work in cooperative learning teams to explore the world around them and solve problems that are interesting to them.
Topics include The Senses, Living Things, The Weather, Balls & Ramps, Liquids & Sounds, Bones & Skeletons, The Earth, The Sun & The Moon and Circuits & Pathways.
Goals

- Grades K – 5
- Students residing within the attendance
boundaries of Garfield Elementary School are
given first priority over students within the Lorain
City Schools district
- Students enrolled in Lorain City Schools are given
priority over students from other school districts

specialists in various science disciplines employing innovative methods of instruction
