Early Learning (Preschool)
Lorain City Schools’ Early Childhood Programs have served the Lorain community since 1991. The mission of the program is to provide exemplary educational opportunities for children ages 3 and 4 years of age. These opportunities are based on a developmentally appropriate curriculum and supplemental services for both special needs and typically –developing children.
Currently the district has nineteen early childhood education classrooms located at three sites within the community. All sites are licensed by and follow policies of the Ohio Department of Education Office of Early Learning and School Readiness. These programs include Montessori, Early Childhood Education, and classes for students with Special Needs. The Montessori Programs are located at Helen Steiner Rice and Lakeview Elementary Schools. The Masson Schools site is part of the Early Reading First Grant and Lorain’s Head Start Collaborative.
